Hauler 35L Backpack II

This is the backpack I've been waiting for all my life! Love the simple black design, but more importantly, love all of the features! The skateboard carry is essential for me, and the waist strap is a bonus!. It's amazing for longer trips, but also just an epic day backpack too! So many pockets! Nixon, you nailed it!

After receiving this backpack, I thought it was a too small until I seen a similar open carry bag that's the same size. Worn in front on the chest to carry revolvers or pistol and mags and still have room for other items. So, It's very good and Ilike it a lot.

I really wanted to love this bag as it looks great, but mainly because it's not inexpensive for a 35L. Unfortunately, while it has a couple of nice features, I've found the overall design just isn't that practical for a day or weekend bag (or for strapping a board to it, which is a shame given it seems to be marketed as a skate pack).

Positives:
- External compression straps (although only one strap on - each side, which limits what you can attach)
- Bottom shoe zip compartment (although have to squeeze in an average sized pair of guy's shoes)
- separate laptop compartment
- Colour is great (oat milk)

Negatives:
- No external bottle pockets! Feels sort of essential for a pack that you can go away with for a few days. There are two bottle pockets on the inside but using them makes packing the bag and zipping it up awkward. Instead of external side bottle pockets there are two small key/card pockets which I don't find useful. Maybe bottle pockets would throw the bag's weight off for a skate pack but I don't find it good for that use either (see below)
- the bag doesn't have a frame so it has to be full if you want to attach a board otherwise there's no resistance to hold it in place.
- as mentioned, only one strap on each side so you can't attach much (e.g yoga matt)
- double straps on the bottom are good but does mean whatever you attach (e.g extra layer as shown in the ad photos) is then on the floor if you ever want/need to put the bag down.
- the front loading zip and the way the straps are placed over it gets very, very annoying!
- large top pocket which sags over when the rest of the bag isn't full.

Incredibly versitile pack. I boutght this to travel to Scandiavia over the festive season. Perfect size for on board overhead luggage or day packing around Copenhagen. Even trekked around Rovaniemi in -27 degrees and found the zips & clips to be robust.
Plenty of useful pockets. Best thing about it is that it fully opens flat to access the main compartment.
Best pack I have ever owned. Hands down.

So far I really like it. The compartment on the bottom for a pair of shoes was a big selling point. It's got all the features I'm looking for a 2 week trip.
